Bios
Rich’s Bio:
Richard Homa began working with the Career and Educational Partnership (CTEP) of New Jersey through a grant with Raritan Valley Community College in 2012. He initially served as a post-secondary representative of the State Graphic Design Advisory Group responsible for developing a Graphic Design Program of Study for High Schools in New Jersey, and later assumed the role of lead writer creating and developing projects for three Graphic Design curriculum units. The projects have been piloted in high schools throughout New Jersey for the past 2 years. Professor Homa also serves as the chair of the CTE Graphic Design Advisory Committee for the NJ Department of Education.
Professor Homa is an Associate Professor of Graphic and Web Design at Warren County Community College, where he has taught and developed curriculum since 1997. He currently serves as Area Chair of their Business, Computer Science, Communications and Graphic and Web Design programs. He chairs the Graphic Design and Computer Science Advisory Committees and has participated on several advisory committees on the secondary and post-secondary level. He’s currently working on developing articulation agreements with secondary schools and 4-year institutions in addition to Graphic Design & Computer Science program review.
Before teaching, Professor Homa worked as a graphic designer in the printing industry before adding software trainer and support specialist on the Mac platform to his resume. Rich continues to work as a free-lance graphic designer and web designer in addition to creative areas such as painting, photography and most recently video production.

Heather’s Bio:
Heather Trautz has been a fine artist and graphic designer for more than twelve years working in media such as: print, web, fine arts, and digital arts.
For the past 6 years she has been teaching at the Highs School level. Heather has taught Fine Art, Multimedia and Graphic Design courses.
Heather became member of the NJ State Graphic Design Advisory Committee two years ago after collaborating with the Career and Technical Education Partnership to help develop a Graphic Design Program of Study. She has since worked with the Office of Career and Technical Education providing feedback and valuable input after being selected to pilot the new Graphic Design curriculum at her high school. As a result, her students are now eligible for up to six college credits.
In the spring of 2010 she had the opportunity to create the Yorkship Art Gallery, which exposed families to literacy and Mathematics through the arts and created a positive teacher-student and parent-involvement within its community of Camden City.
Heather is a firm believer in developed lesson plans utilizing a variety of artistic media to address cross-curricular subject matter. She integrates project-based learning strategies for more engaged and critically aware students. Heather also believes in promoting a positive learning environment in the classroom as well as working in collaboration with fellow instructors to create a rich and meaningful learning experience.
